Dr Vuma Magaqa

Dr Vuma Magaqa is the Director of Digital Health for over 20 years in the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal of South Africa. He is a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Digital Health in South Africa – the committee that developed the National Digital Health Strategy for South Africa (2019 – 2024). He was a President of South Africa Health Information Association from 2009 to 2010. He has won a First Prize in the Digital Government category award hosted by the State Information Technology Agency (SITA), and a second position for a Best Innovation in Citizen-Centred Service Delivery in Africa Public Service Day in Nairobi, Kenya, both awards in 2019. He obtained a Doctorate degree in Health Information System using Telemedicine from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and Master of Philosophy in Social Research Methodology from the University of Stellenbosch (US) in South Africa.
