Dr CoenieLouw holds an MBChB degree from the University of Pretoria and is a fellow of the College of Family Physicians with a postgraduate Diploma in HIV Management from the Colleges of Medicine (CMSA). He is the founder of Gateway Health Institute; working in the fields of Health, Nutrition and Human Rights with a special focus on adolescents, youth and key population groups.
Coenie has a special interest in sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people and vulnerable/marginalised groups as well as the drivers of HIV/AIDS such as gender-based violence and substance use.
He is the innovator responsible for developing and managing the implementation of award-winning programs utilising mobile phone technology such as SmartParent, StartSmart and SmartAgric. Currently he also manages Growth.Life a project addressing food security and nutrition and is co-founder of The Feeding Collective aiming to prevent stunting in children under five.
